Appointment of Grievance Redressal Committee

In accordance with University Grants Commission (Grievance Redressal) Regulations, 2012, a Grievance Redressal Committee has been constituted. This committee aims to prevent unfair practices, alleged discrimination, and address scholarship issues and sexual harassment cases.

Objective:

To deal with complex situations in a tactful manner to lessen the condition felt to be oppressive or dissatisfactory. Encouraging students to express their grievances or problems freely and frankly without fear of victimization.

Meetings:

The Member Secretary shall, with the approval of the Chairperson, convene meetings of the Grievance Redressal Committee as and when required. One-half of the total members shall constitute a quorum. If no quorum is present within half an hour, the meeting will stand adjourned to the next convenient date.

In the adjourned meeting, if no quorum is achieved within half an hour, the members present shall constitute the quorum and conduct the meeting. The Member Secretary shall present the case before the committee for resolution. Both the complainant and the respondent will be present, along with any other relevant individuals.

Appeals:

If the complainant is dissatisfied with the committee's decision, they may appeal to the "OMBUDSMAN" appointed by the affiliating university. The OMBUDSMAN will fix a hearing date, which will be communicated to the institution and the aggrieved person. The institution must comply with the ombudsman's order.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • The Grievance Redressal Committee shall consider all grievances submitted in writing or online by members of the institution regarding employment, working conditions, and alleged injustices.
  • The Member Secretary shall call meetings and present cases for resolution. Both the complainant and respondent must be present, along with any necessary individuals.
  • The committee will study documents, petitions, and statements of all concerned parties and submit recommendations to the Head of the Institution within one month, or at most, three months.
  • In cases of false or frivolous complaints, the committee will recommend disciplinary action against the complainant.
  • The committee will follow principles of natural justice in resolving grievances.
  • Mediation may be conducted between the complainant and respondent if required.

It is expected that this Grievance Redressal Committee will address grievances effectively by following the principles of natural justice.
